Novice, Atom & Midget Champs!

The Apsley Flames Initiation teams played their last games of the season at the NKCC while our Novice, Atom & Midget Flames finished up league play this weekend with championship wins!

Our two Initiation teams participated in the League of Eastern Ontario I.P. Wrap-Up Day in Apsley on Saturday to close out their season. The two Apsley teams played Bancroft and Douro in their final games.  Both teams did great and fun was had by all.  The I.P.'s will have their final practice of the season Thursday, March 12th.

The Novice Flames traveled to Norwood on Saturday for the League of Eastern Ontario Championship Weekend.  They beat the Norwood Hornets and the Douro Dukes in their round robin games by scores of 7-1 and 7-0 respectively.  Kheiron Rowe earned the shutout in the game against Douro. Goals for the two round robin games were scored by: Liam Koehler (7), Kasen McGinn (3), Creighton Perks (2), Kyle Laing and Billy Boa.  Assists by: Liam Koehler (2), Kasen McGinn (2), Dominic Morrison (2), Creighton Perks, Kyle Laing and Greyson Miscio. On Sunday morning, they met up with the Ennismore Eagles in the 'C' Championship game.  The Flames came on out on top with a 5-3 victory! Goals: Liam Koehler (3) Kasen McGinn (2).  Assists: Billy Boa, Dominic Morrison, Owen Hill & Liam Koehler.  The Novice team will have their final practice of the season Monday, March 9th.

On Friday night, the Atoms lost a close game to Ennismore by a score of 4-3, forcing a third game.  Carson Earle scored all three goals for Apsley, assisted by Billy Boa (2), Sawyer Alexander, Jack Dunkerley and Liam Koehler. On Sunday, the Flames battled hard and won 4-1 in their final game of their championship series.  Goals were scored by: Hope Trotter, Ryder Wilson, Haylee Peel and Carson Earle.  Assists: Hope Trotter (2), Nolan Jones, Ryder Wilson and Trent Smith.  The Atom team will participate in the Bradford Blue & Gold Tournament March 20th-22nd.

The Midgets began the League of Eastern Ontario 'B' Championship Series this past Friday night in Apsley.  They came down hard on the Centre Hastings Grizzlies, beating them by a score of 6-0.  Goals: Owen Perks (2), Tyson Baumhour, Todd Redmond, Jamie Eastman, and Logan Downes.  Assists: Jamie Eastman (3), Tyler Florent, Logan Downes, Todd Redmond, Tyson Baumhour and Owen Perks.  James Herbert earned the shutout for the Flames.

On Saturday, the Midget Flames ventured to Madoc for Game #2 against the Grizzles.  Apsley won the second and final game of the series 5-2 to win the 'B' Championship! Goals were scored by: Will Craftchick (3), Jamie Eastman and Ray Redmond. Assists were added by: Caleb Crosby, Eric O'Neill and Jamie Eastman.  The Midgets will be participating in the LDMHA Memorial Classic in Lakefield March 27th - 29th.

    The Apsley Minor Hockey Association has opened up a new division for our future Flames.  The U5 division is open to 2017-2018 birth years and will consist of one 1-hour ice time per week for a fee of $125 for the season.
