Greetings and welcome to the 2023-24 Apsley Minor Hockey Season!
We are quickley approaching the start of our preseason practices (formerly Clinics).
The schedule for Mondays and Fridays beginning Friday, September 8th until the end of the month is:
6pm U7 & U8
7pm U9 & U11
8pm U13 & U15
9pm U18
Because of our large numbers in U11, there will be an additional preseason practice time for this group on Thursday nights in September starting on the 14th. The dates and times will be:
September 14th, 21st & 28th
6pm-7:20
Regular team practices will begin the first week of October. Team practice times will be firmed up soon but you can expect the schedule to be similar to last season. Games for U11 and above will begin mid October and games for U9 and below will begin the end of October. The game schedules for U11 and above will be out early October and the game schedules for U9 and below will be out mid-October
If you are new to hockey, please make sure you have uploaded a copy of your child’s birth certificate for proof of age and a drivers license or other document for proof of address. Please also make sure you have completed the online Respect In Sport Parent Program. There is a small fee for this course. Your child cannot be rostered or play hockey until it is completed. If you have other children already in hockey, please be sure to add any new siblings in your Respect in Sport Parent account under “child management”.
The Regional Silver Stick Qualifier tournaments in Haliburton/Minden have been booked for our U11-U18 teams. The dates are:
U11 November 18th & 19th
U13 November 25th & 26th
U15 December 9th & 10th
U18 December 16th & 17th
We plan on hosting the Winter Carnival Classic U9 tournament at the NKCC during the Lion's Winter Carnival the last Saturday in January. We also plan on hosting the LEO U7 Wrap-Up day the first Saturday in March. There's also a LEO U8 Wrap-Up the same weekend, hosted by another centre. Teams can enter more tournaments and jamborees. Your team managers will let you know about these.
The Apsley Minor Hockey Association will be holding an association wide raffle fundraiser. The proceeds from the raffle will help to offset the costs of hockey that our registration fees don't cover. Ref and ice costs have increased and we try to pay for tournaments for our teams. Our hope is that everyone will participate in ticket sales. More details will be out about the raffle soon.
Don't forget the Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 17th at Marvel Rapids in Apsley. To register a team of 4, please contact Ben Hall at 705-875-3327. Cost is $100 per player, includes 18 holes and cart. Proceeds from the golf tournament will go towards the purchase of new practice tools for teams to use.
