Apsley U18 Silver Stick Champions Give Thanks
On December 16th and 17th the Apsley Flames U18 team competed in the Regional Silver Stick Qualifier Tournament in Haliburton, ON.
Apsley won all 3 of their round robin games by scores of 7-0 over Highland Storm, 5-2 against Collingwood Blues and 6-0 over the Lakefield Chiefs.
The U18 team played a close semi-final game but came out victorious against the Nobleking Knights, winning 2-1. The championship game once again saw the Flames defeat the Blues. This time by a score of 7-3.
The tournament win earned the U18 Flames a spot in the International Silver Stick Finals in Pelham January 11th-14th.
The Apsley Flames U18 team would like to thank Apsley Home Hardware Building Centre for sponsoring the team's tournament entry fee for the International Finals. The U18's would also like to thank the Silver Stick Fundraising Event team for organizing the Name that Tune and Dance. Thank you to all the businesses that donated to the event, the arena staff and parent volunteers who made it happen. Thank you to all the members of the community who attended the event and the hockey parents from all AMHA teams who came out to support it. Thank you to the U11 team for spearheading the event and to all the contributions made by the U11, U13 and U18 families.
The Apsley Flames U18 team is looking forward to representing our community and association at the International Silver Stick Finals and hopes to do them proud.
